"MUGGY"

MARILYN “MUGGY” JONES WAS A 1951 GRADUATE OF NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL. MUGGY PLAYED ON THE 1950 SOUTHERN THUMB ASSOCIATION UNDEFEATED CHAMPION GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM. MUGGY WAS ONE OF MANY NEW ROCKETS THAT WORKED ON THE OLD WARD E. YOUNG ATHLETIC COMPLEX. WHILE ATTENDING HIGH SCHOOL, SHE NEVER MISSED A BASKETBALL OR FOOTBALL GAME FROM 1947 THRU 1951. ONE OF THE MOST MEMORABLE OCCASIONS AS A STUDENT AT NEW HAVEN, MUGGY SAYS WAS THE CONTRIBUTION FROM MAY ANN SIEFERT TOWARD THE SUCCESS OF THE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN. SHE WORKED FOR NEW HAVEN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS OF 23 YEARS PRIOR TO RETIREMENT. MUGGY NOW ENJOYS HER RETIREMENT IN THE STATE OF FLORIDA.
