FRANK REED
FRANK WAS BORN OCTOBER 11, 1938 TO MR. AND MRS. WILLIAM C. REED IN MARYVILLE TENNESSEE.
SPORTS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN IMPORTANT PART OF HIS LIFE. AS A YOUNG MAN HE BEGAN PLAYING LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL AND BASEBALL AT ROCKFORD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. DURING THE SUMMER HE PLAYED BASEBALL FOR THE BOYS CLUB AND AMERICAN LEGION TEAMS.
HE ATTENDED ALCOR HIGH SCHOOL WHERE HE LETTERED IN BASKETBALL, FOOTBALL, AND BASEBALL. IT WAS DURING HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL THAT HE INJURED HIS KNEE. AFTER GRADUATION IN 1956 FRANK JOINED THE UNITED STATES ARMY.
AFTER RETURNING HOME FROM ARMY DUTY, FRANK ATTENDED COLLEGE AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE AND CUMBERLAND COLLEGE. WHILE AT CUMBERLAND COLLEGE FRANK PLAYED BASEBALL AND PITCHED FOR THEM FROM 1960-64. IN THE MEANTIME, FRANK HAD MET HIS WIFE BARBARA, WHO WAS ALSO ATTENDING CUMBERLAND COLLEGE AS AN EDUCATION MAJOR. AFTER GRADUATION IN 1964 THEY BOTH OBTAINED POSITIONS HERE AT NEW HAVEN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS.
FRANK HAS TAUGHT AND COACHED AT NEW HAVEN FOR 33 YEARS. HE HAS BEEN FROM ELEMENTARY TO HIGH SCHOOL IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION AND SCIENCE. ALSO, FRANK HAS COACHED IN BOTH GIRLS AND BOYS SPORTS ON ALL LEVELS. HE HAS BEEN NAMED COACH OF THE YEAR FOR THE COUNTY OF MACOMB. HE ENDED HIS COACHING CAREER AS MOST PEOPLE WOULD LIKE: WINNING THREE STATE TRACK CHAMPIONSHIPS IN A ROW.
FRANK AND HIS WIFE HAVE TWO DAUGHTERS, MICHELE LEIGH REED-TAYLOR AND CHRISTY LYNN REED AND A GRANDDAUGHTER, KAITLYNN PAIGE.
