DONALD FOWLER
DONALD GRADUATED FROM GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY IN 1994. DONALD IS OFTEN REGARDED AS ONE OF THE BEST STUDENT ATHLETES EVER TO ATTEND NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL, AND ONE OF THE HARDEST WORKING.
HE EARNED 16 VARSITY LETTER IN FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, BASEBALL, AND TRACK. ALTHOUGH SOME WOULD ARGUE THAT BASEBALL MIGHT HAVE BEEN HIS BEST SPORT, HE WAS MOST NOTED FOR WHAT HE DID ON THE GRIDIRON. HIS JUNIOR YEAR HE EARNED ALL-STATE FIRST TEAM FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS. HIS SENIOR YEAR HE CAPTAINED ONE OF THE BEST FOOTBALL TEAMS IN SCHOOL HISTORY TO A CO-STA CHAMPIONSHIP AND IN FOUR OF THOSE GAMES HE RUSHED FOR OVER 200 YARDS. DONALD FINISHED HIS SENIOR YEAR WITH 1,615 YARDS RUSHING, AND 29 TOUCHDOWNS. HE FINISHED HIS CAREER WITH 4,339 YARDS RUSHING (SCHOOL RECORD), 58 TOUCHDOWNS, AND WAS NAMED ALL-STATE AGAIN HIS SENIOR YEAR. HE LATER WENT ON TO CAPTAIN THE FOOTBALL TEAM AT GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY.
IN BASKETBALL, DONALD LED HIS TEAM TO THE ONLY MHSAA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP NEW HAVEN HAS EVER WON. HE SCORED 31 POINTS IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME WIN AGAINST #1 STATE RANKED FLINT HAMADY. HE SCORED 1,200 CAREER POINTS AND WAS NAMED ALL-STATE FOR THE 1989-1990 SEASON.
IN THE SPRING, DONALD WAS A TWO-SPORT ATHLETE. IN BASEBALL, HE ONCE HIT TWO HOME RUNS IN ONE INNING AND WOULD HELP THE TRACK TEAM IN WHATEVER THEY NEEDED HIM TO PARTICIPATE.
