ROBIN SIMS
MRS. ROBIN SIMS (MAIDEN ROBIN RAE STEWARD) IS A 1975 GRADUATE OF NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL. AS AN ATHLETE, ROBIN PARTICIPATED IN TRACK AND BASKETBALL. ROBIN RECEIVED HER VARSITY LETTER IN EACH SPORT AND WAS NAMED MOST VALUABLE PLAYER IN BASKETBALL IN 1973, 1974 AND 1975. ROBIN WAS NAMED FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR IN 1974 AND 1975. WHILE PARTICIPATING IN SPORTS ROBIN FURTHER GAINED THE FOLLOWING RECOGNITION:
1973 SOUTHERN THUMB ASSOCIATION HONORABLE MENTION
1973 AND 1974 ALL BLUE WATER HONORABLE MENTION
1974 AND 1975 STA FIRST TEAM BASKETBALL
1975-1977 PLAYED BASKETBALL AT ST. CLAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE MICHIGAN
JUNIOR COLLEGE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION STATE AND REGIONAL RUNNER UP
ROBIN’S TEAM FINISHED 8TH IN THE NATION IN 1977. SHE WAS THE FIRST FEMALE ATHLETE TO RECEIVE AN ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP IN NEW HAVEN. ROBIN FURTHERED HER ATHLETIC CAREER AT CENTRAL MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY, WHERE SHE PLAYED SOFTBALL FOR THE CHIPPEWAS.
IN OCTOBER, 202 ROBIN WAS INDUCTED INTO THE PORT HURON SPORTS HALL OF FAME AS A MEMBER OF THE 1976-77 LADY SKIPPER BASKETBALL TEAM FROM ST. CLAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE.
ROBIN HAS BEEN A LONG TIME VOLUNTEER WITH THE DISTRICT, SUCH AS A LEAGUE COACH, CAGERS, COACH AND VOLUNTEER FOR THE “FUN FEST”. SHE HAS BEEN A COACH FOR NEW HAVEN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS FOR 23 YEARS IN TRACK AND SOFTBALL. ROBIN BRINGS A WEALTH OF EXPERIENCE TO THE NEW HAVEN COACHING STAFF. IT IS WITH GREAT PLEASURE THAT YOU HAVE RECEIVED THIS AWARD OF BEING INDUCTED INTO THE “NEW HAVEN ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME”.
ROBIN IS MARRIED TO ED SIMS, A HALL OF FAME MEMBER ALSO. THEY ARE THE PARENTS OF ASHLEY, SHELBY AND ED SIMS, JR.
