RICHARD CHENAULT SR.
RICHARD CHENAULT GRADUATED FROM NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL IN 1966. WHILE AT NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL RICHARD PARTICIPATED IN ALL FOUR MAJOR SPORTS: FOOTBALL, BASKETBALL, BASEBALL AND TRACK. HE ALSO PARTICIPATED IN CROSS COUNTRY AND EARNED A VARSITY LETTER IN THAT SPORT AS WELL. DURING THAT TIME HE HELPED SET MOST OF THE RECORDS HELD AT NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL. WHILE PLAYING FOOTBALL HE HELPED NEW HAVEN WIN TWO CHAMPIONSHIPS AND ONE CO-CHAMPIONSHIP. HE WAS NAMED ALL MACOMB COUNTY FIRST TEAM FOUR TIMES, ALL PORT HURON TIMES HERALD FIRST TEAM FOUR TIMES, ALL DETROIT NEWS AND DETROIT FREE PRESS TEAMS FOR FOUR YEARS. IN TRACK AND FIELD RICHARD WAS NAMED ALL STATE FOR FOUR YEARS RECEIVING OVER 100 MEDALS AND TROPHIES DURING THAT TIME. HIS BASEBALL TEAMS WON THE SOUTHERN THUMB ASSOCIATION THREE TIMES AND CO-CHAMPIONS ONE YEAR. RICHARD ALSO PLAYED ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP BASKETBALL TEAMS AT NEW HAVEN. RICHARD RECEIVED 17 LETTERS THROUGHOUT HIS HIGH SCHOOL SPORTS CAREER. HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE VARSITY CLUB AND CHOIR FOR FOUR YEARS.
AFTER GRADUATION RICHARD ATTENDED NORTHERN MICHIGAN UNIVERSITY. HE PLAYED SEMI PRO SOFTBALL AND FOOTBALL. HE RETIRED FROM SPORTS AFTER A FOOTBALL INJURY TO THE KNEE, YET CONTINUED TO HAVE AN ACTIVE ROLL BY REFEREEING AND COACHING SPONSORED BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS. RICHARD WAS ALSO A MENTOR FOR MANY FUTURE ATHLETES.
RICHARD WENT ON TO SERVE THE COMMUNITY EVEN FURTHER AFTER COLLEGE BY BECOMING A POLICE OFFICER FOR THE VILLAGE OF NEW HAVEN. HE WAS LATER EMPLOYED BY THE FORD MOTOR COMPANY WHERE HE WORKED FOR 27 ½ YEARS AND CONTINUED WORKING FOR DUPONT AFTER FORD MOTOR COMPANY SOLD THE COMPANY. HE RETIRED AFTER 32 YEARS OF WORKING FOR DUPONT/FORD. HE RECEIVED THE HUMANITY HONORS FROM THE INTERNATIONAL MASONS WHERE HE BECAME POST GRANT EXALTED RULER HAVING EARNED 33 DEGREES WHICH IS THE HIGHEST POSITION HELD BY THE MASONS (IBPOW ELKS).
RICHARD HAS BEEN INSPIRED BY HIS PARENTS EDWARD AND MARJORIE CHENAULT, HIS WIFE GERALDINE, HIS FOUR WONDERFUL CHILDREN: MONIQUE, REGINA, RICHARD JR., AND ASHTON, AND HIS THREE GRANDDAUGHTERS.
