MARY JENKS
MARY JENKS IS A 1965 NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE. MARY IS HAPPILY MARRIED TO MICHAEL FOR 31 YEARS AND HAS THREE DAUGHTERS AND TWO SONS, ALL WHOM ARE GRADUATES OF NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL.
WHILE AT NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL MARY WAS A MEMBER OF THE GIRLS BASKETBALL TEAM. SHE BECAME EMPLOYED BY NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL IN 1973 AS A MIDDLE SCHOOL SECRETARY AND SHE WAS A JUNIOR HIGH CHEERLEADER ADVISOR. AFTER BEING LAID OFF FOR A PERIOD SHE RETURNED TO EMPLOYMENT WITH NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL AGAIN IN 1984 AND WAS JR. HIGH CHEERLEADING ADVISOR FOR TWO MORE YEARS. SHE SERVED AS A STUDENT COUNCIL ADVISOR, YEARBOOK ADVISOR AND 16 YEARS AS CLASS ADVISOR. SHE HAS BEEN ACTIVE WITH THE BAND BOOSTERS AND ATHLETIC BOOSTERS SERVING AS OFFICERS IN BOTH ORGANIZATIONS. MARY WORKED AS AN ATHLETIC SECRETARY FOR 11 YEARS AT NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL AND RETIRED IN JANUARY, 2006.
DURING MARY’S YEARS AS ATHLETIC SECRETARY, SHE HAS DISPLAYED A LOYALTY FOR NEW HAVEN THAT WOULD BE HARD TO MATCH BY ANYONE. MARY’S DEDICATION AND PROFESSIONALISM HAS CHANGED THE IMAGE OF NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS. MARY CONTINUES TO KEEP A REAL WORLD VIEW OF EDUCATION AND THE IMPORTANCE OF HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS.
