ALAN ROBERTSON

ALAN ROBERTSON GRADUATED FROM NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL IN 1959. AL IS BEING INDUCTED AS BOTH A STUDENT-ATHLETE AND COACH.

AS A BASEBALL PLAYER, AL IS KNOWN AS ONE OF THE BEST PLAYERS EVER TO PUT ON A UNIFORM FOR THE NEW HAVEN ROCKETS. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE SOUTHERN THUMB ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM IN 1958, EARNING ALL-STA HONORS AS THE LEAGUES BEST 2ND BASEMAN. HE WAS ALSO THE ALL-MACOMB COUNTY SHORTSTOP IN 1959. AL ACCOMPLISHED THIS WHILE BEING A MEMBER OF THE NEW HAVEN TRACK TEAM. HE WAS ALSO A MEMBER OF THE NEW HAVEN VARSITY CLUB.

AL IS REGARDED TO BE ONE OF THE BEST TRACK COACHES IN THE STATE OF MICHIGAN. HE WAS AN ASSISTANT COACH FOR THE ROCKETS DURING A SPAN IN WHICH NEW HAVEN WON 11 CONSECUTIVE STA CHAMPIONSHIPS, SIX MHSAA REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, INCLUDING FOUR IN A ROW FROM 1968-1971. THE 1974 TEAM ALSO WON A STATE RUNNER-UP TROPHY. ALAN WAS ALSO THE HEAD COACH IN TRACK FROM 1980-1984 WHICH SAW NEW HAVEN WIN THREE STA TITLES. AFTER A FEW YEARS OUT OF COACHING, AL BROUGHT HIS MAGIC TOUCH BACK TO NEW HAVEN IN 1997 WHICH HELPED LEAD NEW HAVEN TO A MHSAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND WON A MHSAA REGIONAL IN 2002.

AL SERVED HIS COUNTY FROM 1960-1964, SERVING IN THE UNITED STATES AIR FORCE MEDICAL CORPS. WHILE IN THE USAF HE ALSO EXCELLED ON THE ATHLETIC FIELD WITH HIS COMMAND WINNING THE ALL-SERVICE CHAMPIONSHIP IN FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL. AFTER SERVING HIS COUNTY AL BECAME A SHEET METAL WORKER AND RETIRED IN 2002.

HE AND HIS WIFE PAULETTE HAVE THREE SONS, REGAN, ROLLIN, AND RYAN. ALL THREE GRADUATED FROM NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL.
