SCOTT CLIFFORD
SCOTT IS A 1973 GRADUATE OF NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL. HE TRULY MADE THE MOST OF HIS HIGH SCHOOL YEARS BY PARTICIPATING IN ALL SPORTS EXCEPT TRACK AND GOLF. HE ALSO WAS A MEMBER OF THE NEW HAVEN CHOIR, SKI AND VARSITY CLUBS.
SCOTT EARNED HIS VARSITY LETTER IN BASEBALL IN 1972 AND 1973. SCOTT IS STILL SEEN ON THE PLAYING FIELD, PLAYING ORGANIZED SOFTBALL. HIS TEAM WON A USSSA CLASS C STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN 1983. ALTHOUGH SCOTT WAS REGARDED AS AN EXCELLENT BASEBALL PLAYER, IT IS THE SERVICE THAT HE GIVES TO THE STUDENT-ATHLETES OF NEW HAVEN COMMUNITY SCHOOLS THAT INDUCTS HIM INTO THE NEW HAVEN ATHLETIC HALL OF FAME.
SINCE 1992 SCOTT HAS BEEN THE SCOREBOARD OPERATOR FOR ALL ATHLETIC EVENTS IN BOTH THE GIRLS AND BOYS PROGRAMS. HE IS THE PUBLIC ADDRESS ANNOUNCER FOR THE BASKETBALL GAMES AS WELL. HIS “WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU” ATTITUDE IS FAR REACHING. WHETHER IT IS TO CALL OUT NUMBERS AT BINGO OR TO DO ELECTRICAL WORK, SCOTT IS ALWAYS THERE. IN ADDITION TO BEING AN ACTIVE MEMBER IN THE BOOSTER CLUB, SCOTT ORGANIZED THE FISH FRY AT THE NEW HAVEN AMVETS FOR THE SONS OF AMVETS, A GROUP WHO AWARDS YEARLY SCHOLARSHIPS TO GRADUATING SENIORS AT NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL.
SCOTT HAS BEEN INVOLVED IN MANY OF THE ATHLETIC COMPLEX RENOVATIONS OVER THE LAST 10 YEARS. HE HELPED BUILD THE BLOCK DUGOUTS AT THE BASEBALL AND SOFTBALL DIAMONDS AND SET UP THE ELECTRICAL FOR THE SCOREBOARDS AT THE DIAMONDS AS WELL AS THE FOOTBALL FIELD. HE VOLUNTEERED TO PUT IN THE NEW WATER PUMP AT THE MIDDLE SCHOOL SO THAT A GRASS INFIELD COULD BE PUT IN AT THE VARSITY BASEBALL DIAMOND. HE ALSO HELPED ORGANIZE MHSAA DISTRICT EVENTS HELD AT NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL.
SCOTT ATTENDED MACOMB COMMUNITY COLLEGE FOR FOUR YEARS TO STUDY ELECTRICAL CONSTRUCTION AND MAINTENANCE. HE ALSO PLAYED ADRAY COLLEGIATE BASEBALL FOR TWO YEARS. SCOTT HAS WORKED FOR THE MACOMB COUNTY ROAD COMMISSION FOR THE 29 YEARS AND PLANS TO RETIRE IN THE YEAR 2003. HE IS ALSO THE OWNER OF LNL ELECTRIC.
SCOTT AND HIS WIFE NANCY HAVE TWO CHILDREN, LESLIE AND LINDSEY, BOTH GRADUATES OF NEW HAVEN HIGH SCHOOL.
