DONALD SIMS
Donald graduated from New Haven High School in 1974.
Donald’s basketball honors included Male Athlete of 1969-70, All-County First Team in 1972 and 1974, Port Huron All-Area Class C First Team in 1972 and 1974, Macomb Daily All-County Honorable Mention in 1972 and 1973, Macomb Daily All-Star Third Team C;ass CD in 1972, and All-Star First Team in 1974.
Track honors included Free Press All-State, All-State Class C in 1974 for high hurdles, Port Huron Times Herald All-Area Team in 1974, All-State Selection Board of the Detroit News in 1974. At the All-State Team Tri-State Champion meet, he ran the high hurdles which he won with a new State Class C record of 14.3.
Donald received a special tribute from Governor William Milliken for his outstanding athletic achievements.
In the past years, Donald has coached J.V. basketball, varsity boys track, 7th and 8th grade girls basketball and 8th grade boys basketball.
Donald’s wife, the former Bonnie Harris, and daughter, Donita, are also graduates of New Haven High School.
Future plans for Donald include retiring from New Haven Foundry and continuing to participate in the New Haven Athletic Program.
